(FBINAA) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing the highest degree of law enforcement expertise, leadership training, and information to law enforcement executives around the world. Association members are graduates of the prestigious FBI National Academy Program. The FBINAA has nearly17,000 members representing all 50 US states and 174 Countries world-wide. The FBINAA is the strongest law enforcement leadership network in the world. Located in Quantico, VA, the FBINAA is a non-political organization and is not affiliated with any special interest group.

LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

LETTER FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

This year marks the 25th year of incorporation for the FBI National Academy Associates Inc. Truly a milestone year and one with many accomplishments. We have come a long way from our humble beginning to a vibrant association with close to 17,000 members. In the area of training and educations we had over 38 hours of training at our Annual Training Conference in Quebec City with very positive reviews. We renewed our Mo- torola Officer Safety and Wellness grant and have trained over 220 train the trainers on this vital topic. We re- ceived the National Certification Program Seal of Excellence from the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training for our Officer Safety and Wellness Program and have executed the CRI-TAC grant with eight partners. You probably noticed the branding initiative within our organization. Our Executive Office team have worked diligently to standardize and refresh our newsletters, website homepage, letter head and signage to name a few. We are also getting ready to launch a new engagement APP. “ FBINAA Connect ,” works to keep you informed with one touch from your smart device. Stay informed via news feeds, messaging with friends, dis- cussions in our forum section and know what your individual chapters are doing to stay in touch! Our core as an organization comes from our members and I encourage you to engage and reconnect because we are the “Strongest Law Enforcement Leadership Network in the World.” I want to conclude by saying that I am very fortunate to work with such a dedicated and selfless Executive Board, but the heart that keeps us together is our Executive Office Staff. Day in and day out they dedicate countless hours to make us stronger and better. We are preparing to dedicated the unveiling of the FBINAA History Wall during the FBINAA Chapter Leadership Summit in Spring of 2019. As we build upon this year’s accomplishments to improve upon the coming year, I know I will be proud to view the wall in the years to come with admiration and appreciation. The bottom line is that I am thankful for my experience with my fellow graduates and the FBI National Academy Associates Inc.

We strive to continue the advancement and sustainability of the FBI National Academy Associates. This year was an especially strong year for the Association with significant accomplishments. Here is a highlight of a few of them.

Education and Training: This is the core of everything we do as it supports our mission of “Impacting com- munities by providing and promoting law enforcement leadership through training and networking.” By joining together and exchanging best practices and key learnings, we become stronger as an Association. In 2018, we did just that and more. Some of the highlights included: • The Quebec City Conference, which included almost 40 hours of law enforcement training sessions. • Achieved the National Certification Program Seal of Excellence from the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training for our Comprehensive Officer Resilience Train-the-Trainer Program, which provided each attendee 36 hours of In-Person credits. Keeping our members informed of everything the Association is involved in is also a critical service. Some forms of outreach are obvious and in the forefront…others aremore subtle but equally important and impactful. In 2018, we: • Redesigned the website homepage for a cleaner, easier-to-navigate experience. • Completely refreshed the FBINAA Brand and Standards which included Brand Standard Guidelines which impacts everything from email headers to business cards to social media. • Designed the FBINAA Connect APP. This hands on smart phone utility will be used to support our membership, provide you with the latest, relevant NEWS feeds and provide timely content to keep you up-to-date on all the latest information on the Association. The APP will be rolling out in early 2019. We also upgraded our data management system to enhance and improve our valued member engagement. This allows us to communicate more effectively with our members and enabled us to make significant up- dates to our website for improved navigation and engagement. Our online webstore has also had a facelift. Take a look yourself. I believe you will enjoy the shopping experience and see many new items you would like to purchase. It has been a blessed year for me, your Executive Director to continue to serve the members of this Association. I look forward to all the great things we will continue to build on in the future and to working with you and our 48 Chapters... and beyond. The Conference received an favorable rating of 93% for the attendees. • Renewed and fulfilled the Motorola Officer Safety & Wellness Grant.

WORLDWIDE IMPACT… 48 WORLDWIDE CHAPTERS PROVIDE PREMIER EDUCATION & TRAINING

2018 ANNUAL TRAINING CONFERENCE

CHAPTERS Through our 44 state and 4 international chapters, the FBINAA bridges federal, state, municipal, and international law enforcement agencies, as well as, private sector partners to share their ex- pertise, technology, and knowledge. These 48 chapters are the heart of the FBINAA. It is at the chapter level where our members, families, and communities are professionally, socially, and personally linked to each other and their region’s law enforcement network. Education and Training is at the core of the Mission of the FBINAA and its Chapters. In 2018, the FBINAA Chapters conducted over 380 hours of education and training to more than 5,200 members. TOTAL ATTENDANCE 5,200 TOTAL TRAINING OVER 380 HRS

The FBINAA 2018 Annual Training Conference, July 21-24, 2018 , was held in beautiful Quebec City.

The New York State/Eastern Canada Chapter and its Host Committee, along with local law en- forcement volunteers from Quebec City made this annual conference a tremendous success. In addition, the 2018 Annual Training Conference received tremendous support from other section chapters andmany local law enforcement agencies in the New York State/Eastern Canada Chapter. The Annual Training Conference consisted of three and a half-days of networking and education which included 38+ hours of law enforcement training sessions, one required general member- ship meeting (plus an additional meeting for nominations), two major evening events, a welcome reception, opening and closing ceremonies, a professional exhibition, and two after-hours recep- tions. 1,786 participants attended the Conference. Because of the beautiful destination and val- ue of the conference location, the ratio of guests to law enforcement attendees was particularly high at 70% as compared to the usual 50-60% for conferences in metropolitan areas.

The overall experience at this year’s Conference was very positive with a 93% good/excellent rating. This was one of the highest ratings for the Conference in the last ten years.

OFFICER SAFETY & WELLNESS

YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAM

The FBI National Academy Associates welcomed fifty-eight stu- dents to the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA for an inten- sive week long leadership program during July 2018. Similar to the FBI National Academy Program, students came from all over the United States, representing 37 US states, Pakistan, England, Honduras, Canada & Puerto Rico. The week focused on core subject matter which included Lead- ership, Ethics, Values and Choices, Juvenile Crime, Character Matters, Goal Setting, Bullying, Ethical Decision Making, Account- ability, Social Media and Financial Responsibility. Students also visited the nation’s capital to visit many impactful museums and memorials including the National Law Enforcement Officers Me- morial, US Holocaust Museum, Yorktown Battlefield and Arling- ton National Ceremony.

OFFICER RESILIENCY, SAFETY & WELLNESS The FBI National Academy Associates seeks to save lives, families, and careers of police officers around the globe. Since 2017, over 350 trainers have completed the FBINAA’s Comprehensive Of- ficer Resilience Train-the Trainer Programs. Funding for these programs was supported through the generosity of the Motorola Solutions Foundation. The FBINAA achieved the National Certification Program Seal of Excellence from the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) for the Compre- hensive Officer Resilience Train-the-Trainer Program, 36 hours of In-Person credits.

The first Youth Leadership Program took place in 1998 and as of 2018, 970 students have graduated from the program.

I then focused on the weather. It is raining and stormy today. I sat for a moment and took in the sounds. Normally this type of weather would put me in a bad mood, not anymore. I now look at life for the b lessings that it has to offer. The sounds, the landscape, people, and the vast opportunity it has to offer that I have missed for so many years.

21ST CENTURY POLICING WEBINAR SERIES In 2018, the FBINAA launched its 21st Century Policing Webinar Series co-hosted by our Strate- gic Partners. These 60-90-minute webinars focused on cutting-edge law enforcement topics and trends and were delivered by law enforcement and public safety experts. Webinar co-hosted partners Verizon, Microsoft, Cellebrite, and NC4. Over 2,000 law enforcement executives partic- ipated in six webinars in 2018.
